Water

Transportation by water is limited in the McNairy County area. However, access to both the Mississippi and Tennessee rivers is available through highway transportation.

Currently water is supplied by the City of Selmer. The system has the capability of 2.5MGD and an average consumption of 1.6 million gallons. The county is making tremendous strides to consistently improve the water system therein. Within the next three years, an additional 500,000 gallon water tank is to be added to the facility.

Air

McNairy County is served by a general aviation airport. This facility can accommodate light cargo operations and small corporate jets. The runway is currently 5000 feet long; however, an addition is underway and should be completed in 2004.

Rail

McNairy County is served by the West Tennessee Railroad. This railroad is composed of a short-line system which links to main lines leading to the northern and southern regions of the United States.

Highway

Two major United States Highways traverse McNairy County. Both Highway 45 and Highway 64 serve the County. Highway 45 is a north-south corridor which leads to Interstate 40 in Jackson. Highway 45 also leads to Corinth, Mississippi on its’ southern section. This passageway is critical to the industrial park in McNairy County. Highway 63 is an east-west corridor which leads to Memphis as well as western areas of Texas.
