Big Hill Pond State Park
This park provides over 4000 acres of hiking, camping, kayaking, as well as a whole host of other activities. A 70 foot lookout tower looms over the park and offers great panoramic views of the scenic landscape. More information on this park and many more can be found at the TN State Parks website.

Shiloh National Military Park
Visit the sites of the most epic struggle in the Western Theater of the Civil War. Nearly 110,000 American troops clashed in a bloody contest that resulted in 23,746 casualties; more casualties than in all of America's previous wars combined. Explore the Shiloh battlefield and see the beautiful fields preserved in time.
McNairy also boasts the Davis Bridge and Fallen Timbers civil war trails as well as an additional 4 major markers throughout the county. |

Freedom Fest
Selmer Parks and Recreation/Town of Selmer are hosting the July 4th Freedom Fest! The parade is at 12 noon on July 4th followed by music performances all afternoon and late that evening starting at 9:00pm there will be a fireworks show. You can see the schedule below:

Rockabilly Highway Revival
The Rockabilly Highway Revival is grounded in McNairy County’s musical roots. Situated on Rockabilly Highway (45 South), midway between Memphis and Nashville, Tupelo, Mississippi and Jackson, Tennessee, McNairy County was ground zero for the cultural explosion that gave birth to rockabilly and rock ’n’ roll music. It happens every second Saturday in June.

This summer AIM is hosting the play Annie in the historic Latta Theatre as well as book signings, art exhibits, and artist signings. Check out their website for more information!

Buford Pusser Museum and Experience Center
Legendary Buford Pusser was known all across America for his fight against the State Line Mob with only a stick. From presidents to musicians, including Elvis Presley and Johnny cash, this small town hero showed the nation what it meant to walk tall. You can visit his home as well as the jail and office in the McNairy County Courthouse and see where the legend conducted his hard-lined stance against organized crime.
You can also find information at the Tourism office about the Walking Tall Trail, which will take you on a tour throughout McNairy County showcasing the significant moments of his life and career. |
Coon Creek Science Center
Clams, snails, crabs, sharks, and giant mosasaurs living in Tennessee! That would be the scene approximately 70 million years ago in what is now West Tennessee as the ancient Gulf of Mexico covered the land. How do we know? A visit to Coon Creek Science Center will help answer this question. Within the 232-acre grounds of Coon Creek Science Center, located in rural McNairy County, Tennessee, lies one of the top ten fossil sites in North America.
